CASTLE
2009 March 17

Forget the fact that I’m a HUGE Nathan Fillion fan. Or a writer.
I personally love the series premise—and Fillion can do comedy very well. Last night’s episode was great—kept me guessing on who did it. I do wish they’d keep up the Poker Game from the first episode, though. I don’t think it’s going to though. Iz sad.
I looked over on iTunes and right now there’s no season pass—it’s just a $5.98 on two episodes. I guess they’re waiting to see if the show sinks or swims. I personally hope it takes off.

According to reports, both Stephen King and Sue Grafton are slated to appear, so it sounds like the poker game will be a semi-regular thing. For me, if it was in every episode, it runs the risk of getting old. I wouldn’t want to see others solving the mystery for him every time! But I’d LOVE it as an occasional tidbit, like a dark-chocolate caramel from Trader Joe’s to savor. (Sorry. New obsession.)
Funny sidenote: A nonwriter friend on a nonwriter list commented that Castle is too young to have written all those books… No, I said, he’s really not. (But I didn’t go into the math.) LOL
Oh yeah…not every episode…but on a few. It also keeps the legitimacy of his character in tact as well. I also hope we see more of his writing, fighting plot, and rewriting. Though…to a non-writer that’s kinda boring isn’t it?
I don’t know if it’s boring to a nonwriter… I have a number of nonwriting friends (SF and/or Fillion fans) who are loving the show, so I could always poll them after 5 or 6 episodes… (The above-mentioned friend whom I corrected about the number of books Castle could have written has deferred to my greater knowledge of such things. Hee!)
