oh…here it is in all it’s deadly glory!

I watch GMA in the mornings (huge Robin Roberts and Sam Champion fan here) and just a second ago they showed a Bacon Explosion, a dish for a Superbowl party.

OMG

It’s like woven bacon, and then a layer of sausage, and then another layer of woven bacon and then they take it and roll it into a log.

It is 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat.

!!!

I lost my morning appetite.

Geez those commercials just bite my ass. I think companies like Welch’s should stand up and actually counter them with one of their own and use it to sell their very delicious new Fruit Juices that have NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP stamped on the side really big.

Grumble….

I have always been an Oprah fan. LOVE. HER. But for the past 8 years or so I haven’t kept up taping the show or watching it. Until last week. I taped her Better Life thingie and I really liked it! What a cool idea. Though we’ve been reading Dr. Oz for a while. Now here comes the real fun—applying it to daily life. 

So I decided to take it in stages. The first thing I need to do (and I’m doing it per month) is cut out sugar. Yeah duh, Phae. You’re a border line diabetic. When did the clue phone ring??? This is gonna HURT. My fav? Danish Wedding Cookies. LOVE THEM. But so far, so good. But I am getting oh so sick of water. I figure if I can get rid of sugar completely by the end of January, I can start my own MISSION ACCOMPLISHED blog!

By the way, I didn’t make that list up of what to avoid. About…oh…three years ago (right Marc? Sarah?) gave everyone in our family a copy of Dr. Oz’s YOU, THE OWNER’S MANUAL. And though I sort of read through it at the time, I’ve been a bit more attentive (and tapping Oprah again—Oprah Rocks!) and decided what can it hurt? 

Nothing. 

But to continue eating this shit…

It killed my Dad. Trust me. And it’s probably killed someone you love as well. Remember, you are what you eat. 

Even if the price of the food is scary, you have to look at it like this: Want to spend the money now or when you’re older and the health care system takes EVERYTHING!

Anyone else doing this? I am. I have to. I need to lose weight REAL bad. Not only the weight thing but to get healthier. Sitting in front of  computer screen both during the day and then again all night—makes for large thighs!

In doing so, I figured the first thing to change was to buy healthy food. Cutting out the BIG FIVE: 

1. HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) This shit is in EVERYTHING!
2. Hydrogenated Anything. Read labels.
3. Enriched & bleached flour.
4. Salt/sodium
5. Transitive Fats.

Sounds easy, right? Ha. Ever tried buying healthy? I mean, have you priced foods at WHOLE FOODS?!

I did. Today. Got sticker shock. Had to go to the bar and order up a Wheat Grass shot. Then I had to get a coke to get that nasty taste out of my mouth… bleargle.
